about

I. Dying Embers
II. Empty Head
III. Procession

This song's been sitting on my pro tools hard drive since 2009. It was actually one of the first songs I ever recorded on pro tools and one of my longest works in progress (I keep updating it). The beginning riff is really old, dating back to 1994. It was part of the Drakus suite and the rest of the song was developed around it and later became its own song. It's about a guy who lost everything to the dragon, but he's not too unhappy about it. As such it will most likely be one of the songs on the Drakus album.

More personally, it's about my own issues with my migraine headaches. In 2009 I started taking medication that helped relieve me of my persistent daily migraines, but they had some rather strange side effects that affected my memory and mood significantly. I wrote this song in response to it.

I think I played every one of the instruments I owned on this so I don't think there's really anything more to add to this. Still needs to be mixed though.

lyrics

Woke up outside
Had no bed
Had nothing on
My things are gone

Feel the sunlight
turn me red
He's burned my home
Yet the pain is gone

Never felt so alive
My head's
My head's clear

Cloudy skies
won't get me down
Don't feel misused
I'm so confused

Feel the rain
cool my body down
soothes my aching head
my empty head

Nothing to tether me down
My head's
My head's clear

I'm all alone but I don't feel lonely
I have no memories to hold me back
I know exactly what I've got to do now
I know exactly what I want at last

Dancing naked in the streets
My body is turning red
I can't remember anything
Feeding my empty head

Now that I've lost everything
I'm ready to start again
The pain is starting to lift away
Ooooh I'm going down down
I'm slowing down now
